The plant supplied electric power to the Town of Estes Park until July 1982 when it was severely damaged by the Lawn Lake Flood. The original building was constructed by F.O. Stanley in 1909 to supply power to his hotel.
In 1998, the Town began planning the restoration of the site for use as an interpretive museum. Following the installation of interior exhibits, the museum opened in 2002.
The firm was retained by the restoration architect, Long-Hoeft Architects of Georgetown, Colorado, to provide construction administration services. BASIS acted as the liaison between the Town staff, general contractor and restoration architect. Services provided included weekly construction meetings, reviewing shop drawing and submittals and performing site observations.
